Being a published author is so much work! Not the writing itself, which is
the fun part, but the publishing aspect of the process. It seems to be more work
than the writing, takes longer, costs more, and has a steeper learning curve.
Besides worrying about edits of all sorts—proofreaders, developmental
editors, beta readers, etc.—there’s a need for a cover designer, a website
designer, a website host, formatting, permissions for anything quoted, a
dedication, book club discussion questions, acknowledgements, text for the back
cover, a description for Amazon, copyright permission, Library of Congress
registration, ISBN number, and a whole host of things I’ve probably forgotten!
Whew! But I’m getting it all done, just a lot slower than I would have liked. I’m
hoping that my first published book, India Interlude, will be available in late
summer, 2025.
I’ve been very lucky to find several individuals who have been nothing less
than exceptional in guiding me along the way, and doing what I needed without
complaint. It’s been wonderful to find professionals who are so good at what they
do that they can transform the work of someone like me, who’s just learning what
this book business is all about. I couldn’t have asked for better assistance. Cheers
to you all!
